Using the Outlook Integration on a Network
There are two things to be aware of when you use the Outlook integration on a network:
Outlook Cabinet
First, if you use the Outlook Cabinet feature, you'll want to make sure that you use public contact folders in Outlook. This will ensure that everyone uses the same set of contacts. As a result, everyone will see the same drawers and drawer mappings.
Also, you'll want to set the path for the Outlook cabinet to a network drive. This will ensure that any Outlook drawers that get assigned the default mapping will be visible to everyone.
If users have private Outlook folders, these will show up as separate cabinets in their local FileCenter. This isn't a problem, necessarily, as long as you make sure the cabinet path is also on their local machine. But it may tempt them to start saving files locally, so you may want to go to each workstation and hide these cabinets.
Email Archival
If you are using Outlook cabinets, we'll reiterate that it's important to make sure that you use shared, public contact lists. This will make sure that everyone uses the same paths for archiving email.
If you don't use Outlook cabinets, you can still take advantage of email archival. When users save messages, they can archive them to any cabinet location or folder they want.
